How to make a Cereal Milk Fizz (A Fruity Pebbles Ramos Gin Fizz Riff)
Dry shake the vodka, lemon, lime, vanilla syrup, cream, egg white, and orange flower water without ice until the egg white is fully whipped. Add ice and shake again until cold. Pour a splash of soda into a tall glass, then pour the shaken mix over it slowly. Poke a straw through the foam and keep adding soda through the hole until the head rises above the rim. Scatter a few Fruity Pebbles on the foam and serve with a straw.

The Ramos Gin Fizz is the drink that made Henry C. Ramos hire a line of shaker boys at his Imperial Cabinet Saloon in New Orleans in the 1880s: gin, citrus, cream, egg white, and orange flower water, shaken until the foam stands up above the rim. This is that drink with the gin swapped for a vodka that tastes like Fruity Pebbles, which turns the cream into cereal milk. That is the whole idea, and it is a good one.
Junction 35 is a distillery in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and Bam Bam is their vodka that tastes like Fruity Pebbles. If you cannot find it, Three Olives Loopy, the Froot Loops version of the same idea, is the closest swap. Lemon and lime both go in, as in the original. Vanilla syrup replaces plain simple syrup because cereal milk is sweet and a little vanilla. A dash or two of orange flower water is what makes a Ramos taste like a Ramos, and the egg white and cream build the foam. You finish it the classic way: soda in the glass first, the shaken mix poured over it, then more soda through a straw hole until the head rises out of the glass.
I made this one for my Junction 35 Bam Bam review, alongside a Cereal Negroni and a Fruity Pebbles Pornstar Martini. For the Halloween version of the original, see my Bloody Ramos Gin Fizz.
Do I need to shake it for twelve minutes?
No. The twelve minute shake is a story from the 1880s, before dry shaking and good ice. A hard dry shake without ice, then a second shake with ice, gets you the foam in under a minute.
What soda should I use?
Plain club soda is the classic. A lemon-lime soda leans sweeter and cereal-ier. Either works, and the carbonation matters more than the flavor.
Is raw egg white safe?
Fresh eggs from the fridge are the standard in bars everywhere. If it worries you, pasteurized egg whites from a carton foam nearly as well.
