How to make a Blue Hawaii
Add the vodka, rum, blue curaçao, simple syrup, lemon juice, and pineapple juice to a shaker with ice and give it a brief shake. Fill your glass or tiki mug nearly to the top with ice (it always looks like too much and never is), pour the drink in, and top with a little more ice if needed. Garnish with a paper umbrella — this one earns it.

The Blue Hawaii was created on January 3, 1957 by Harry Yee, the legendary head bartender at the Hilton Hawaiian Village in Waikiki. It's bright, cheerful, and just a little goofy — which is exactly why it went in my Rose Nylund mug from the Geeki Tikis Golden Girls set. It also happens to be one of the few tiki-adjacent classics with vodka in it, fitting for Rose since Betty White's real-life drink of choice was famously vodka. The original spec calls for an ounce of sweet and sour mix; the simple syrup and lemon juice here are basically making your own on the fly.
