Spiced Apple THC Mule Ingredients

How to make a Spiced Apple THC Mule

Add the THC spirit, lime juice, demerara syrup and bitters to a shaker. Fill with ice and shake 10 to 12 seconds.

Strain over fresh ice in a highball or a copper mug. Top with ginger beer and give it one gentle stir to lift the base through the ginger beer.

Garnish with a thin apple slice or a cinnamon stick. A dusting of cinnamon on the apple slice looks like Thanksgiving if you're taking a picture.

Ginger beer: a dry one. Cock-N-Bull, Fever-Tree or Q. Sweet ginger beers plus the demerara syrup is too much; if that's what you have, cut the syrup to a quarter ounce.

Bitters: spiced apple bitters are the thing that makes this taste like fall instead of like a mule. They're optional and the drink is fine without them, but they're worth finding. A couple dashes of Angostura is the fallback.

Dose: 2 oz. of Calmezzi Spiced is one 5 mg serving. If you're swapping in a different spirit, check its dose per ounce and pour accordingly; some are 10 mg per two ounces. Low and slow, and wait 45 minutes before deciding you need another one.

Alcohol version: 2 oz. of spiced rum or apple brandy in place of the hemp spirit, same everything else.

This is the Thanksgiving drink for the seat at the table that isn't drinking. A spiced hemp THC spirit, lime, demerara syrup and spiced apple bitters, shaken and topped with ginger beer. It's a mule, and it tastes like a mulled cider that somebody carbonated.

I made it the week of Thanksgiving last year with Calmezzi Spiced, a cinnamon and clove hemp spirit at 5 mg of THC per two-ounce pour. Any hemp spirit works in the build; if yours isn't spiced, add an extra dropper of the apple bitters or swap the demerara syrup for an apple spice syrup. If you'd rather not use THC at all, leave the spirit out, double the bitters and you've got a very good ginger beer and lime soda.
