Jack Daniel's Strawberry Tennessee Buck Ingredients

2-3 Fresh strawberries, sliced

0.5 oz / 15 ml Simple syrup

2 oz / 60 ml Jack Daniel's Old No. 7

0.5 oz / 15 ml Fresh lemon juice

Top with ginger beer (about 2-3 oz / 60-90 ml)

2 dashes Angostura bitters, on top

Strawberry and a lemon piece, for garnish

How to make a Jack Daniel's Strawberry Tennessee Buck

Muddle the strawberry slices with the simple syrup in your shaker. Add the Jack Daniel's and lemon juice, then shake vigorously with one-inch cubes to break the fruit down further. Double strain over ice in a highball (or open pour if you like fruit pieces in the glass), top with ginger beer, and finish with the Angostura dashes floated on top. Garnish with a strawberry and a piece of lemon.

Strawberry Tennessee Buck with Jack Daniel's, muddled strawberries, and ginger beer

A buck is any cocktail built on ginger beer (or ginger ale) and a base spirit, and this Tennessee version adds muddled fresh strawberries to the formula. My tasting notes: it's like a strawberry Lynchburg Lemonade with a ginger kick — light, refreshing, and cute enough that I served it in my Strawberry Shortcake glass. Best tip from the taste test: float the Angostura dashes on top at the end instead of shaking them in. It looks great and makes the drink even better.
