Singapore Sling Cocktail

The Singapore Sling was invented around 1915 by bartender Ngiam Tong Boon at the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel, Singapore. As the story goes, it was designed to look like fruit juice — a way for women to order what was technically a cocktail at a time when it wasn't considered proper for them to drink in public. Gin, cherry liqueur, and a mix of juices, shaken into something far stronger than it looks.
