Zero-Proof Margarita Ingredients

2 oz / 60 ml Ritual Zero Proof Tequila Alternative

0.5 oz / 15 ml Non-alcoholic triple sec

0.5 oz / 15 ml Agave nectar

1 oz / 30 ml Fresh lime juice

Tajín, for the rim

Lime wheel, for garnish

How to make a Zero-Proof Margarita

Run a lime wedge around half the rim of your glass and dip it in Tajín (half the rim so every sip is a choice). Add the Ritual, triple sec, agave nectar, and lime juice to a shaker with pebble ice, shake well, and open pour the whole thing into the glass. Garnish with a lime wheel.

Zero-Proof Margarita

This one came out of a Dry January experiment: I made the exact same margarita three ways (classic tequila, cannabis-infused, and this fully zero-proof version) and taste-tested them side by side. Fair warning, the classic still won on taste. But this one surprised me. Ritual's tequila alternative is honestly like peppery water on its own, and even Ritual says to mix it rather than sip it, but in a margarita it works. The bigger win is what it does for the person not drinking: hand someone this instead of a boring soda and they're part of the festivities, no hangover, and almost no calories beyond the agave (the classic version runs about 220 calories, most of it from the spirits). If you want the middle path, my THC margarita splits the difference at around 75 calories with a gentle buzz.
