1 oz. / 30 ml Rye
1 oz. / 30 ml Dry vermouth
1 oz. / 30 ml Campari
build in mixing glass, double strain into chilled coupe with a lemon twist
This is a negroni riff using rye instead of gin, and dry vermouth instead of sweet vermouth.

The Old Pal is the drier, whiskey-based cousin of the Negroni, swapping sweet vermouth for dry and gin for rye. It's often credited to Harry MacElhone's 1922 cocktail book and named for a newspaper sports column of the same title. Rye whiskey, Campari, and dry vermouth, stirred and served up or over ice.
